This past Tuesday, we at MindTouch hosted the .NET MagicNight Meetup. MagicNight is a hands-on programming and learning experience, where a challenge related to a particular topic is presented, and attendees team up to solve the challenge.
This week’s challenge consisted of running and modifying a three node C# GRPC server, running on Docker Linux containers using .NET Core.
This MagicNight was amazingly fun, we got to learn about:
- Ways to evenly distribute data among multiple nodes for a distributed hash table (Consistent Hashing, client replication, among other solution that attendees came up).
- Challenges and solutions for Docker’s networking configuration.
- .NET Core tooling, like the dotnet CLI and Visual Studio Code on Linux and OSX.
You can find the challenge in the .NET San Diego MagicNight’s GitHub repository: MagicNightDotnetCoreAndDocker
You can review the introductory .NET Core + Docker slides for the night. You can also review some of the teams solutions:
With the recent announcement of support for C# on AWS Lambda, we are overjoyed and excited to use it during our 2017 MagicNights, stay tuned and see you then!
