I think this is the first time I’ve ever written or verbalized “back by popular demand” without even a hint of sarcasm. Yes, we’re bringing back our list of #techcomm influencers because many, many of you have asked us and thousands of you have Googled your way to MindTouch.com looking for the updated list.
In 2010, MindTouch produced a list of the most influential techcomm bloggers. Our team spent literally weeks pouring over a variety of sources including, but not limited to, Klout, Google Pagerank, Technorati Authority and Twitter. We were compiling the list for our own benefit, but we thought it would be a good idea to share with the entire community and we did so.
This year—well…last year as this is about 2011, not 2012—we’ve structured things a lot differently. As I mentioned, we had a few people work on the previous list and we produced a single short list of top influencers based primarily on if they blogged, but other social media channels impacted their rank. Thankfully, this year we had access to an amazing social media analysis tool that for the time being I can not name because it has not yet launched. This social media analysis tool presented to us, within seconds, a much more comprehensive report that we could have never compiled manually. This report includes:
- Most Influential (a variety of factors impact this, but the number of topic insiders have the biggest impact on this ranking)
- Most Emergent (fastest growing in influence)
- Top Listeners
- Most Followed (on Twitter)
- Oldest (on Twitter)
- Most Frequent Tweeters
Furthermore, the tool produces a complete list of ALL Twitter users that are active in this topic and ranks them based on an Influence score. Like I said, amazing! Right?
We cut the list of Twitter-ers down to a top 400 list and posted this for all to follow and enjoy. You can subscribe to this Twitter list here: twitter.com/MindTouch/techcomm-2011-influencers. The Twitter list is in no particular order; so, you will have to wait as until announce the top influencers.
We will announce the results on Thursday, January 5 at 8:00AM PT. At this time we will publish the list of tops in #techcomm as outlined in the above categories. In a subsequent post we will release the entire list of top 400 in ranked order. We’ll also make available a snazzy badge because you deserve it. You are the pioneers that are innovating and advancing the #techcomm space. Thank you and congratulations!
UPDATE 1/4/2012: I failed to mention another BIG DIFFERENCE between this year and last. We analyzed both Techcomm and “Content Strategy”. Hence this list consists of both #Techcomm and #ContentStrategy influencers.
